Saturday 17th April 1914 - suffragettes plant a device on Yarmouth Pier resulting in its total destruction by fire. They were responding to their betrayal by Herbert Henry Asquith of the Liberal Party - Prime Minister from 1908 -1916. The violence against property was aimed at the politicians who stood in the way of progress, or who authorised violence against women.

"Not a cat, dog or canary, would be harmed" - Dorothy Jewson - Norwich MP and activist.
